TRAINING: Living Crisis from a Distance

Live

In the aftermath of the destructive earthquakes that impacted Turkey, Syria, and Kurdistan, and as an extension to their "Living Crisis from a Distance"gatherings held in 2022, the artists Diana Al-Halabi and Hilda Moucharrafieh invite fellow artists from different migratory backgrounds and diasporic communities to come together, share, reflect, and channel their experiences into a collective tapestry-making session. Apart from organizing fundraising events, manifestations, and panel talks, how can we put our skills and emotions collectively as artists into cultural production, that aims for visibility and financial support?

The collectively-produced artwork will be displayed for auction on Friday, the 17th of March, at Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, in collaboration with Kunstinsitituut Melly and Artists in Solidarity NL. The auction event will include other art and design objects donated by artists for fundraising. All funds raised will be directly donated to local non-governmental organizations operating in the region that work for immediate earthquake relief as well as long-term healing and reconstruction.

The collective working session will take place on Saturday 11th of March at Kunstinstituut Melly in Rotterdam, and is extended to artists by invitation only.
