Minor Music with Hartwig Art Foundation

Kunstinstituut Melly is delighted to invite you to join us for conversations and a meal prior to Saidiya Hartman’s performance Minor Music at the End of the World, directed by Sarah Benson and featuring André Holland, Okwui Okpokwasili and Arthur Jafa at the International Theater Amsterdam (ITA), presented by Hartwig Art Foundation.

Organized by Beatrix Ruf, Gabi Ngcobo and Tina Campt, this public program consists of two conversations about the performance and the Dutch translation of Saidiya Hartman’s essays The End of White Supremacy: American Romance and Litany for Grieving Sisters.

Starting at 12:30 pm, the first discussion will be between Saidiya Hartman, Alexander Ghedi Weheliye and Pelumi Adujemo, and moderated by Quinsy Gario. The second one will present Arthur Jafa, Cameron Rowland and Precious Okoyomon, and will be moderated by Derica Shields.

After the talks, a meal will be served in MELLY, our ground-floor cantina, which will be the soft-launch of the new project by artist Riet Wijnen titled Suitcase Economy.

At 17:30, following the meal, Hartwig Art Foundation invites signed-up guests to a free bus ride to ITA Amsterdam and complimentary tickets to the performance. The bus will then return to Rotterdam Central after the end of the performance, arriving at around 23:00.
