WORKSHOP with Alejandro Cesarco: Reading as Generative Process

Take part in a workshop by Alejandro Cesarco. In the workshop we will approximate a working definition of reading, and look into ideas of translation as a practice and as metaphor for reading while writing. We will use key texts by Jorge Luis Borges as a frame to explore ideas around originality, uses of references, and questions of translation, and to see how these particular practices of reading may pertain to contemporary artistic practices. As case studies we will look at examples by artists Sturtevant and Louise Lawler and ponder how their work works.

This workshop is presented in collaboration with WdKA Honours Programme, Acceleration Lab, in the frame of Alejandro Cesarco, a solo exhibition.
