A new edition of A Mic of One’s Own, a series of collaborations between Kunstinstituut Melly and The Writer’s Guide (to the Galaxy)!

For this edition, we’re stepping into the world of drawing, inspired by Draw Withdraw Redraw, a group exhibition at Melly featuring work by AYO, Bani Abidi, Cinthia Marcelle, Felipe Mujica, Misheck Masamvu, Nohemí Pérez, and Thierry Oussou. The exhibition explores an expanded understanding of drawing: drawing to begin, to recognize, to create movement, to improvise, to resist, to pause, to reorient, to reinvent, and to start over again. It presents drawing as an in-between and ongoing process.

Performers: we’re looking for you!

We invite writers of poetry, spoken word, short stories, essays, songs, journals, or whatever your preferred genre is, to perform a piece with ‘Drawing’ as its central theme. As always, you can take this as literal or as metaphorical as you want. Be creative, wander off from the already drawn paths, and have fun! Because we have limited space, we ask you to apply first. You can do so by filling in this application form by August 28th.
