Lola den Dunnen
Lola den Dunnen (NL, 1999) is Marketing & Communications Coordinator at Kunstinstituut Melly. Raised in an artistic family, with both parents working as artists and gallery owners, Lola has been connected to the art world from an early age. She previously worked at Melly as a Fellow, Marketing and Communication Intern, and as a participant in CLIP #4.
With a background in Law from Erasmus University, Fine Arts from Willem de Kooning Academy, and a minor in Film and Theatre at Leiden University, Lola’s work is shaped by an interest in storytelling and the ways narratives are developed and communicated. Before focusing on the arts, she was a high-level competitive chess player, achieving national and international rankings and participating in European youth championships. The strategic thinking developed through chess continues to inform her approach to planning and working across multiple projects simultaneously.
Alongside her work in arts communications, Lola maintains an autonomous artistic practice. Her ongoing Archive of Tears explores the human desire to interrupt the constant movement of existence and give form to what is inherently transient. Through glass sculptures containing tears collected from different experiences and organized through an archival system of letters, the work reflects on the attempt to freeze fleeting moments and create a material encounter with impermanence.
