The MELLYs: Honoring Art’s Unseen Heroes

Kunstinstituut Melly proudly announces The MELLYs, the inaugural edition of our awards celebration dedicated to recognizing the often-unseen contributors who make the art ecosystem thrive.

Each award carries a €25,000 prize that honors the dedication, skill, and imagination, often behind the scenes, that sustain the cultural sector. The inaugural edition will take place on Thursday, 27 November 2025, marking the 35th anniversary of Kunstinstituut Melly.

The evening will feature a reception in Riet Wijnen’s Suitcase Economy, a shared three-course dinner, performances by donna Kukama and the Unemployed Airhostesses, a DJ set by Jollyfish, scenography by Loui Meeuwissen, moderation by Evita de Roode, and more.

Beyond celebrating, The MELLYs serve as a vital fundraiser for Kunstinstituut Melly. Proceeds from the evening will directly support the institution’s 2026 programming, including a major retrospective of Moshekwa Langa, ensuring the continuation of bold and socially engaged art projects.
