Free Saturday Workshop with Rayaan Ettaghdouini — Work in Progress
1–3 pm
FREE SATURDAY WORKSHOP AT KUNSTINSTITUUT MELLY
Since the opening of our Education & Participation Space, Kunstinstituut Melly has become a vibrant place for workshops, lectures, and collective learning experiences. Every Saturday, we organize free workshops open to everyone, where creativity, connection, and personal expression are at the heart of the experience.
WORKSHOP — WORK IN PROGRESS
In this workshop, Rayaan Ettaghdouini invites participants to work from intuition and materials, rather than from a predetermined end result. By experimenting with ink, ecoline, paint and drawing materials, amongst other things, a free space is created in which the unpredictability of the materials forms the starting point for crafting a story.
Within this abstract phase, the emphasis is on entering into a dialogue with the work, in which questions are encouraged. Through association and reflection, participants are invited to allow meanings to emerge in relation to what appears on paper.
The workshop focuses on developing a visual language. Through iteration and small interventions, participants are encouraged to allow the materials to help shape the process and the final result.
At the end, the works are viewed collectively and annotated with associations, which are placed as ‘thought clouds’ around the work, creating a shared space for interpretation.
