Tearoom Relay _ SHOULDER

Tearoom Relay _ SHOULDER is the 6th iteration of Tearoom, a series of gatherings that bring together a group of artists based in Frankfurt am Main, happening at Kunstinstituut Melly. They come together with a collective curiosity in exploring performative formats as means to create friction, nurture unlikely combinations, and build community.

Starting from the simple commitment of sharing space and time, the group hosts intimate gatherings that allow for experimentation in various forms of performance, including readings, screenings, sonic and choreographic scores, meditations and talks among others. In the summer of 2022, at Städelschule Gasthof, the class of Haegue Yang turned their classroom into a tea room which hosted events, performances, meditations, concerts and talks. Given the transformation from the classroom to the Tearoom, the space became a prototype of the community for creation, conversation and presentation.

Previous iterations of Tearoom were hosted at the Venice Biennale of Architecture (2021), the Delfina Foundation in London (2023) and at the Vietnam Art Collection in Hanoi (2025)
