Sandra van Boetzelaer-van Wersch
Sandra van Boetzelaer-van Wersch (FR/NL) has been Director of Development at Kunstinstituut Melly since 2026. She studied Dutch law at Leiden University and obtained an MBA from HEC Paris. She also completed a course in Modern and Contemporary Art at Christie’s in New York.
Sandra began her career in the commercial sector, where she held senior management positions at companies including eBay and Microsoft. She then made the transition to the cultural sector as Marketing Manager at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. During her seven years in New York, she worked as an art consultant and served as Director of Marketing & Communications at the Bruce Museum of Arts and Science. There, her focus included audience development, community engagement, brand positioning, and fundraising.
After returning to the Netherlands, Sandra served as Business Manager of the musical theatre company De Veenfabriek in Leiden and subsequently as Business Director of De Schuur and Toneelschuur Producties in Haarlem. In these roles, she was responsible for strategy, operations, finance, HR, audience development, partnerships and boosting the organisation’s own revenue.
At Kunstinstituut Melly, Sandra focuses on development, fundraising, partnerships and the organisation’s further strategic development. She combines an international perspective and commercial experience with a strong commitment to art and culture. In doing so, she is dedicated to supporting arts organisations that link artistic ambition with social relevance, accessibility and a broad and diverse audience.
