Kerem Akar
Kerem Akar is an artist, theatre maker, educator and DJ based in Amsterdam. His practice is grounded in creating performances that emerge from everyday diasporic migration experiences and questioning existing norms. After working as a clown for The Flying Seagulls, the urgency rose to use theatre as a tool for liberation. Working predominantly with children, youths and non-professional actors within a process of communal making, his work dismantles the traditional hierarchies of theatre, embracing vulnerability and play as spaces of shared transformative experience. He holds a BA in Fine Arts from Willem de Kooning Academie, Rotterdam and currently follows a BA in Theatre Education and Making at the Amsterdamse Academie voor Theater en Dans, Amsterdam.
