Garage School is a nomadic art and education collective that creates temporary schools in response to specific contexts, blending theory with practice to foster collective learning. Kari Robertson and Santiago Piñol developed the Garage School of Medicine (GSoM) during the BAK Research Fellowship for Situated Practice (2023-24). GSoM strives to imagine and prototype conceptions of health and healing that are democratic, holistic, preventative, collective, and hopeful. We strive to amplify and develop practices which support the social body, focus on community care, and address threats to collective resilience. Garage School of Medicine has worked with Paviljoen aan het Water, Gemaal op Zuid, Grondstoffen station, Basecamp for Tactical Imaginaries, Reading Counterpower, take-a-way, Doe Het Zelf werkplaats, Varia, Het Nieuwe Instituut, and is currently curating CLiP #7: The Garage School of Prepping Otherwise at Kunstinstituut Melly.
