Luis Bracamontes
Luis Bracamontes (he/they) – @ageoflui – is a queer Mexican spoken word artist, trainer & facilitator based in Rotterdam. His poetry moves through themes of queer joy, intimacy, and spirituality, always approached from a decolonial and intersectional perspective on identity. Founder of Brotherflow, an interdisciplinary laboratory for new masculinities that reimagines what a brotherhood in the 21st century can look like.
Luis is also the founder of Stichting Unwanted Words Project, an award-winning platform dedicated to LGBTQ+ poets in the Netherlands active since 2018. Through this initiative, they launched the 1st & 2nd Queer & Feminist Poetry Awards (2020, 2023), under the theme “Decolonizing Gender”, and published the Queer & Feminist Poetry Anthology Vol. 1 (2021). These projects reflect Luis’s ongoing commitment to amplifying marginalized voices, nurturing collaboration, and creating safe(r) spaces for community expression.
Their leadership and artistry have been widely recognized: Luis was named a “Game Changer” at the Rotterdam Street Culture Festival in 2021, chosen as an Ambassador for Poetry International Festival in 2023, and is a Poetry Circle alumni (2019–2020).
Luis’s work has been showcased across museums, festivals, and cultural stages, including the Stedelijk Museum, Queer Amsterdam, , Amsterdam Pride, Opera Dagen Rotterdam, Milkshake Festival, Brainwash Festival, Landjuweel, Tell’Em Festival, the Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival, Rotterdam Pride, and many more.
