Fernanda Olivares

Fernanda Olivares is a Mexican visual artist, dancer, and researcher. She holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts (Painting) from ENPEG "La Esmeralda" in Mexico City and continued her education in New York and Florence. She later studied a Major in Art & Science (AI) and a Master's in Dance Research at CENIDI Danza José Limón, focusing on AI tools, ethics, and choreographic devices.

Fernanda's practice bridges painting, dance, and technology, engaging AI as a social and theoretical shift within contemporary art. She has been a lecturer at ENPEG "La Esmeralda," Tongji University (Digital Futures), the School of Visual Arts in New York, and the National Art Museum in Mexico City (MUNAL). In 2022, she founded and co-directed the first Latin American AI Biennial (BILIA).

Her work is held in public and private collections across Mexico, USA, The Netherlands, Germany, UK, Switzerland, and Italy. In 2023, she was a speaker at TEDx Boston, hosted by MIT(Massachusetts Institute of Technology), as part of a pioneering cohort exploring hybrid kinetic practices with AI systems.

Fernanda approaches the body as an interface and translator shaped and distorted by technology. Her current practice combines painting, classical ballet, and video, fostering a dialogue between analog processes and embodied digital explorations. 

As a CLIP curator, she engages collectively with the implications of technology on the body, focusing critically on body data, representation, ethics, and labor.
