The Mixer: Performance and Karaoke Evening

Live Free Entrance

This year, Kunstintsituut Melly throws open its doors for a special Karaoke night and performance evening with The Mixer as part of Art Rotterdam 2023.

The Mixer is a festive collaboration initiated by Kunstinstituut Melly in partnership with de Ateliers, the Jan van Eyck Academie, the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten as well as with our local partners Art Rotterdam and Het Nieuwe Instituut. In a late-night program, our building will be filled with performance and song as we celebrate art in Rotterdam and beyond.

From 8pm onwards Karaoke will be hosted in two locations by the Rotterdam art-space Peach, as well as by Rotterdam-based artist Simone Schuffelen. Choose your Karaoke classic for ‘Peach’s Autumn Bar’ or join in for a round of ‘Songs to Sing at your Funeral’.

The evening will also feature performances of work in our current season of exhibitions. Catch a performance of Jennifer Tee’s exhibition Still Shifting, Mother Field at 8 pm, and of Anna Witt’s Soft Destructions at 9:30 pm.

Mingle in our exhibitions and cantina until 11 pm as part of our collaboration with the Kunstblock initiative and our neighbors; V2_, WORM, MAMA, and TENT. Following the program, audiences are welcome to continue on to local art platform Brutus, where a late-night party will continue.

In 2023 the Mixer will host guest of honor Catherine Wood, Director of Program at Tate Modern in London. In a special program, Wood will present a keynote hosted at Het Nieuwe Instituut.
