WORKSHOP: From the Wilderness, with Love

[It] is not a question only of what we do; it is a question of how acutely and fully we can feel in the doing.
– Audre Lorde, “Uses of the Erotic” (1978)

You are warmly invited to “From the Wilderness, with Love,” a wandering tour and conversation, guided by a slippery selection of objects, experiences and readings, at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art. Navigating uncertain terrains and futures, what new ways of seeing and being do these guiding materials enable us to feel and imagine?

Taking a walk on the wild side across green-screens, gullies, maypoles and floods, what feels most sensuous may take you further than what seems most sensible. Including readings of Edouard Glissant, Jean Genet, Audre Lorde and Rihanna, “From the Wilderness, with Love” is an invitation to listen to those resonances you never expected to feel.

This event is presented as part of Parallel Curriculum, Studium Witte de With’s student-run program, and led by participant Adam Patterson, a visual artist and writer based in Barbados, London and Rotterdam.

Solo exhibition

That same day Adam Patterson opens his solo exhibition Things you threw in the gully at Roodkapje Rotterdam from 8 pm until midnight.

Crawling with things hidden, cared for, forgotten or denounced, do you trust the gully to keep your secrets safe? You are warmly invited to the opening of the very first solo exhibition by Adam Patterson, one of the Hamburger Community of Art artists in residence at Roodkapje Rotterdam.

About Parallel Curriculum
