FORUM: Tracing Migration Through Crafts and Design

In conjunction with the group show An exhibition with works by…, opening at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art the day after the event, we invited art and research platform Touch/Trace to collaboratively organize an afternoon with lectures, presentations and talks tracing the different historic ‘roots and routes’ of blue-and-white ceramics across the globe, exploring how these migrations are meaningful and manifest in our material cultures today.

Bringing together specialists and practitioners from the fields of art, design and heritage, the forum will foster an exchange between contemporary discourses on globalization and the migration of form in the field of art and design.

With contributions by amongst others Eline van de Berg (curator Asian Ceramics, Museum Princessehof, Leeuwarden), Christel Vesters (writer, curator and initiator of art and research platform Touch/Trace), curator Bernardo José de Souza and artists Ni Haifeng & Raed Yassin (participating in the group exhibition opening one day later at Witte de With) and students from the Design Academy Eindhoven’s MA Contextual Design.
