Welcome to Hoffie!

The Hoffie book collection is a place founded by artist Pris Roos where children and parents (and others) are welcome to read, but also to come together and learn from each other. At Hoffie, you'll find more than just books; you can also connect and discover new experiences.

With a selection of children's books and graphic novels in various languages, we explore topics such as gender awareness, sexuality, growing up, and different backgrounds.

At Hoffie, you can relax, reflect, read books, create, and connect with others!

More about Hoffie:

Hoffie is a traveling book collection created by Pris Roos.

The collection includes a selection of books and graphic novels for various ages and in various languages, covering topics such as gender awareness, sexuality, coming of age, and diverse backgrounds. Hoffie began with Pris Roos's personal book collection, initially in her own studio where the collection was opened to visitors. Since then, the collection has grown from locations in Rotterdam's South, City Center, and West districts, such as Zuid-Boijmans, part of Boijmans van Beuningen, the Wijkpaleis community center in The Hague, and the Huis van het Boek (House of the Book) in The Hague, and recently also at Olympia College in Feijenoord, Rotterdam.

At these various locations, we strive to collaborate with the team of the respective space. Through these new collaborations and the books available, workshops and opportunities arise with organizations focused on diversity, Black and Brown authors and illustrators, queerness, and the representation of neighborhoods and stories.

For example, there was a reading afternoon by drag queen Heisa Jenx, organized by Gyonne Goedhoop and the Boze Baby's Book Club, workshops on "how to write your own short story" by Pris Roos, and an afternoon and evening about Anansi and the Spider in collaboration with Caró van der Pluijm of Tent Rotterdam, Julian Crestian, Juliette Asajas, and Gerson Kronstadt, and Uitgeverij Wilde Haren.
