Moshekwa Langa

Moshekwa Langa werd in 1975 geboren in Bakenberg, Limpopo, Zuid-Afrika, en woont en werkt in Amsterdam. In 1997–98 volgde hij een residentie aan de Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.

Langa verwierf eind jaren negentig internationale bekendheid en maakte deel uit van wat inmiddels wordt beschouwd als de gouden periode van de internationale biënnales, waaronder die van Johannesburg (1997), Istanboel (1997), Havana (1997), São Paulo (1998 en 2010), Gwangju (2000), Venetië (2003 en 2009) en Lyon (2011).

In 2022 presenteerde Langa Omweg bij KM21 in samenwerking met het Kunstmuseum Den Haag. Eerdere solotentoonstellingen vonden plaats bij onder meer Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam (1998); Centre d’Art Contemporain, Genève (1999); Renaissance Society, Chicago (1999); Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati (2003); Kunstverein Düsseldorf (2004); MAXXI – Nationaal Museum voor de Kunsten van de 21e Eeuw, Rome (2005); Modern Art Oxford (2007); Kunsthalle Bern (2011); Krannert Art Museum, Champaign, Illinois (2013); de ifa Galleries in Stuttgart en Berlijn (2014); Chapelle des Cordeliers, Toulouse (2021); A4 Arts Foundation, Kaapstad (2024), evenals bij Stevenson (2016–25).
