Kunstinstituut Melly in Rotterdam is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) commencing in June 2024. The workplace is at the offices of Kunstinstituut Melly on Witte de Withstraat 50 in Rotterdam.
Salary: € 3,114 gross p/m at full-time or commensurate with experience
General description: In charge of developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies for the institution to strategically and tactfully communicate its vision and programs. Point person to pitch approaches and follow up with press contacts to list, review, and feature activities of the institution in newspapers, magazines and online platforms. Produces content and manages the institution’s websites and social media platforms, as well as being responsible for elaborating and distributing press releases, digital newsletters, and exhibition mailers and announcements.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Executing the communications and marketing strategy, including overseeing processes, schedules and deadlines, approaching press contacts to secure press and media coverage and program listings of exhibitions, activities, and interviews;
• In collaboration with the Director and program team, drafts and sends press releases and newsletters, and produces and publishes copy for the institution’s websites;
• Manages and enhances the institution's presence on social media platforms, including content creation, engagement strategies, and monitoring social media trends to ensure effective communication with the public and stakeholders;
• Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and updating of the institution's websites, ensuring they remain accessible, up-to-date, and secure, reflecting the latest events and institutional information;
• Designs, creates, and manages targeted social media and printed advertising campaigns to maximize visibility and engagement with diverse audiences, ensuring a cohesive brand message across all platforms;
• Collaborates with the institution's designer, and oversees the timely production and distribution of all communication printed matter items, such as invitations, flyers, posters;
• Leads production process with designers, photographers, translators and editors, etc., of all communication materials and exhibition didactics/graphics;
• Responsible for producing live streams on YouTube and social media and coordinating with external videographers to create captivating videos of exhibitions and events;
• Supervised by the Director, monitors the press and publicity strategy, maintaining press contacts, actively organizing press pitches and doing follow-ups (local, national, and international);
• Ensures institutional press clippings and press kits are updated at all times;
• Reads and analyzes gathered communication-based data, ensuring following the privacy regulations ;
• Assists development manager in drafting the Annual Plans & Reports to stakeholders and in writing the communication plans as part of funding applications.
Required skills and ideal competencies:
• Excellent verbal and written command in both Dutch and English;
• Digital native: Proficiency with Adobe Suite, previous experience with social media management, advertisement, and print marketing, and ideally, experience in producing live streams;
• Natural networker and a good communicator; curious and open-minded; can work with and within a creative team;
• Administers time efficiently; self-directed and collaborative; takes initiative and can cope with responsibility;
• Ideally, has experience working in the arts and culture sector in The Netherlands.
